Abstract

Infallibility as one of the fundamental issues of Islamic theology has always been discussed by researchers. Among the Islamic factions, the views regarding the infallibility of the Prophet (PBUH) are divided into two categories: infallibility in missionary affairs and infallibility in non-missionary affairs. Regarding infallibility in non-preaching matters, some considered it possible to forgive minor sins from the Prophet (PBUH), and some, like the Imamia, considered him immune from committing major and minor sins. Mahmoud Aburiah, one of the contemporary Sunni intellectuals, in his book "Azwa Ali Sunnah Al-Muhammadiyah" has denied the infallibility of the Prophet (PBUH) in worldly and non-preaching matters based on Quranic reasons and narrations.

The following article aims to evaluate the documents of Aburiah in an analytical-critical way and often using religious books. The result of the research shows that not paying attention to the context of the verses and quoting weak traditions without considering the validity of the document and text has caused the formation of the view of the infallibility of the Prophet (PBUH) in non-propaganda matters.
