The personality of Imam Hussein (AS) and his uprising, due to its comprehensive and multifaceted dimensions, is capable of diverse interpretations and can be viewed with different approaches. Throughout history, despite the existence of different approaches and perspectives towards the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS), some deviations and distortions, excesses and analytical errors have occurred in the interpretation of this uprising and the issue of Ashura. Among these deviations are sectarian analyses of this incident, which have had negative ideological, intellectual, cultural, social and political consequences and have sometimes caused divergence among Muslims. On the other hand, in the present era, Islamic convergence among followers of Islamic sects has become a vital and fundamental issue. Although the issue of Islamic convergence has been raised since the beginning of Islam, its importance has become more apparent in the last one to two centuries with the presence of foreign powers in Islamic countries. This study uses a descriptive-analytical method to conceptualize the subject and explain the personality of Imam Hussein (AS) as a pivot for Islamic convergence. The findings of the study show that Imam Hussein (AS) has a high status in authentic Sunni texts and the goals of his uprising are agreed upon by all Muslims. The results of the study indicate that followers of Islamic sects can accept the personality of Imam Hussein (AS) as a common point and pivot for Islamic convergence by avoiding sectarian approaches, extremism, and exaggeration regarding the personality of Imam Hussein (AS) and by adhering to responsible behaviors towards each other and in order to preserve Islamic principles and commonalities.
